We enjoy performing all over the world but a person just gets all the good feels when the performance is in their home state and mine is Texas. Last week we enjoyed our show at Main Street Crossing in Tomball, TX. It’s what one calls an “intimate” venue. That means we’re so close to the audience, they can smell if a band member’s wearing a new cologne. If someone calls out for a particular song, I can look ‘em right in the eye when that song is one of Moe Bandy’s. Seriously, we love to perform in Texas but we also enjoy our audiences up North, East, down South and way out West. What everyone has in common is an appreciation for songs of what I call “real country” music. Those are the songs about heartache, love and real life. A great country song can tell a story in a few minutes and those great ones will be with you for a lifetime. You know how you feel when you hear a masterpiece from Merle Haggard like “Mama Tried” or George Jones’s “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” I appreciate all of you that tell me you consider “Farewell Party” to be in that rare league of songs. It’s always my honor to close my show with it. We hope we’re going to be in your town soon and if so, we’d love to see you there.
