June 24, 2023: We performed to a packed house at the @SugarCreekCasino in Hinton, OK. It’s always a sweet sound to hear the roar of a crowd! Outside it was like a furnace in the heat wave that has enveloped Texas and Oklahoma, but inside, that nice, cool air conditioning was running full blast. I don’t know if you’re old enough to remember living in a house without air conditioning but I certainly do (and no A/C in the car either of course!). That is one of the greater inventions we’ve adjusted to, wouldn’t you say? I can recall it being so hot at night, it was almost impossible to fall asleep. Then as an entertainer, you’d be onstage just putting everything you’ve got into the show and just come off so hot, it was a wonder we didn’t get heat stroke up there in those old days. But today – although we do occasionally play a place that thinks a few fans equal air conditioning, we’re lucky that most have adapted to the real thing.
Saturday night it was all good. Here a few photos from the show.
- This is Ms. Mackynsie McKedy who opened the show for us at the SugarCreek Casino. She appreciates real country music so if she’s in your town, get to her show.
- This 6 year old fan is Brantley – he had his hat signed by me and I’m glad we’re starting these young’uns off early on our kind of country music.
- My band left to right: Boo Miller (steel), Chad Phillips (Guitar), Todd Hines (drums), Staley Rogers (bass) and Dewayne Rice (piano).
