Celebrating 60 years in Country Music, Gene Watson wants to give back to the music that keeps him singing. He has announced special merchandise that will be sold on demand with the proceeds going to the Opry Trust Fund. He is also asking some of his fellow country music artists to help show some family love and sport his new Opry Trust Collection by wearing the shirt and telling fans how to order them to support the cause.
“I’m excited that Michael Ray is one of the first ones to help with this great cause and we hope you spot more amazing artists join in!” – Gene Watson
Since its beginning in 1925, the Grand Ole Opry has not only been an incredible mix of country music performances, but it has also truly been a family. Often referred to as the home of country music, the Grand Ole Opry provides artists with the opportunity to perform with their mentors, sit down with fellow artists and share stories, and walk backstage and feel like they’re at home. This feeling of family is why on the Opry’s 40th Birthday, Opry management decided to start the Opry Trust Fund. The Opry Trust Fund’s mission is to help those in the country music industry family when they need it the most, by offering financial assistance during their time of need. Since its inception, the Opry Trust Fund has distributed more than $4.8 million.
